I've wanted a handpan drum―also called a hang drum―for years now, and I finally got around to buying one a few weeks ago. They're a bit pricey, but it's an awesome instrument. It's percussive but you can do simple chords and it resonates beautifully once you learn to strike it properly. It's quite forgiving in that you can play notes without a specific song or rhythm in mind and it can still sound pleasant. Here's a sample of me playing for a few minutes:
Sounds pretty good for a complete amateur with a few weeks of practice, at least to my ears. I find that playing this thing reliably induces a serene reverie unlike any other instrument I've tried. Since making it sound nice is pretty easy you can truly relax and just have fun, and the way it resonates and sings is so peaceful and rejuvenating. I recall that in The Iliad Achilles is said to play a lyre to delight his thumos (if you don't know what that is, see Reclaiming Thumos), and I find that the hang drum delights mine with its restful, spiritual sound.
